Boston Day 4

Our last day.
Mostly, a travel day.
But, before we left for the airport
the Choir took one more trip on the subway.

We went to the New England Conservatory,
where they participated in a Choral Workshop…

Day 3 03_192

… then, a couple of  hours of leisure time,
followed by a 6 hour flight home.

As always - - -
it is nice being HOME!

This day we visited Harvard University…

Day 3 03_19

…on our way to Lexington and Concord Battle Fields.
I snapped a photo of the temple from the bus as we passed by.

Day 3 03_191

After eating lunch at the Wayside Inn
(the oldest operating Inn on the one of the oldest commissioned roads in the United States),
we spent the rest of the day enjoying a little R&R.

Boston Day 2

This day was spent walking the Freedom Trail.

We started at The Boston Common,
America’s oldest public park.

Day 2 03_18

Many statues are placed through out the park
including The Boston Massacre Memorial

and George Washington:

The better part of a 3 mile walk,
seeming like 30 miles as we tackled the cobblestones
and weaved through side alleys.

Day 2 03_181

The State House:

Day 2 03_182

Next stop: the Granary Burying Ground.
This is the burial site for
John Hancock, Paul Revere, Samuel Adams,
all five Boston Massacre victims and
Benjamin Franklin’s parents.

Day 2 03_183

More statues, church’s and historical buildings:

Day 2 03_184

and a little Paul Revere

Day 2 03_185

before ending up at the Old North Church
where the choir sang a few songs
ending with America The Beautiful.

Day 2 03_186

We topped the day off with dinner and Mary Poppins.

Day 2 03_187

Bed time did not come soon enough!

Boston Day 1

This morning we received our Charlie Pass.
This gave us access to the Subway for the duration of our stay.

We jumped on board and headed into town.
We spent a few hours at Quincy Market…
eating lunch and shopping.

Day 1 03_17

We wandered around, soaking up the city before we meet the group
prior to our next stop…

Day 1 03_171

We met at Long Wharf.
Long Wharf was the busiest pier in the busiest port in America during early colonial times.
It extended nearly a half-mile into the harbor during that time.

Day 1 03_172

From there, we caught a ferry to the USS Constitution.
We spent some time at the museum and the ship itself.
The 44-gun USS Constitution, built in Boston, was launched on Oct. 21, 1797
It is the world's oldest commissioned warship afloat.
Day 1 03_173

Day 1 03_174

We ended the day with front row tickets to
The Blue Man Group
The perfect ending to a perfect day!

Principles

On a long, delayed flight
I took a stroll to the back of the plane.
I just finished watching “The Kings Speech”
(Thumbs up!)
and enjoyed my complimentary drink and snack.

As I waited in line,
the choir teacher introduced me to a gentleman.
I could not hear, and asked him to repeat his name.

I have since decided that after 2 children
and 6 years of the same school,
it is OK to not know or recognize the Principle.

I have decided that this is a good thing…
my daughter's did not require
additional attention from the Principle.

(I have spent the last 5 days
with my daughter as the school choir, band & orchestra
toured Boston….details forth coming!)

My ABC’s

About to crack open a Diet Coke for breakfast.
Boston bound this week as lead chaperone for my daughter’s Choir Tour.
Craving some of the brownies my daughter made yesterday.
Deciding that brownies and Diet Coke might be breakfast.
Excited for what lies ahead… 2 daughter’s in college, a new stage of live for all of us.
Finishing the last season of LOST on Netflix with  my daughter.
Glad that my husband made it home safely from his “Business Trip” in Vegas during the MWC Tournament.
High Cholesterol, UGH!
Inspired by my daughters. Their strength, their courage, their example.
Joining millions and watching General Conference in three weeks!
Kicking off “Birthday Week” for my oldest daughter with La Puente dinner on Monday.
Looking forward to the Homecoming for the missionary son of our dear friends.
Missing my oldest daughter’s 21’s birthday while I am out of town. :(
Needed a girls day out. Thanks Emily, for letting me tag along at the Expo.
Overwhelmed by the blessings in my life.
Prepared for Spring and Summer… hope they get here soon. I need the warm sun!!
Quickly realizing how lucky I am…
Relieved that my trip this week, prevents me from teaching next Sunday. (Although, it is getting easier…)
Still watching Chester limp around the house… weeks after the fall.
Thinking I need to take more pictures. Camera has not been out since Christmas.
Unbelievably in love with my husband and daughters!!
Vitamin D deficient, more pills… UGH!
Worried about packing the right things for the trip this week.
XTC - love the band, not the drug.
Youngest daughter’s “Birthday Week” is in April.
Zealous about my family and my faith.

Medication

Chester is still limping from the fall
he took two weeks ago,
but is currently being medicated
and has shown improvement.

As you can tell…
he is quite relaxed.

best part of my day…

It wasn’t waking up at 4:30 am
so I could get to work early.

It wasn’t getting everything done at work
including the powerpoint for the staff meeting.

It wasn’t staying at work late
to project, point and train.

Of course not!!!

The best part of my day
was spent doing something I have never done before…

The best part of my day
was chatting on-line with my nephew for 30 minutes.

Thanks Jake,
for answering all of my questions.

Love Aunt Heather
